I created a gantt chart so that I could plan out what I need to complete and how long I have to complete it. This has helped me organise my work better and ensure I am on track.

DPS magazine.jpg

Here I was given a task to pick and complete a copy of a magazine and try and recreate it as well as possible. This task helped me explore Photoshop further and practice my skills ready for panning and developing my own magazine front cover and double page spread.

In my magazine the models outfit will consist of a wacky unique looking dress linking to something a celebrity would wear on a red carpet.  . This is because I want my model to be wearing something very unique because it links to the sorts of dresses that celebrities wear at the red carpet . I purposeful chose these images with the models dressed and positioned in that way as this is how I would like my model to pose. The images above are how I would like my model to be positioned for my front cover image as a mid shot. For the double page spread I will be using a close up image of my model so that viewers can really focus on the makeup and her facial expression. This is so that I can write an autobiography and interview page talking to her personal life and about the fashions shows in Bristol.

Shoot Plan 1 : Front cover

Subject: My model is a female young adult model.

Location:  The shoot will take place inside a house as the walls are very white and I only need a mid shot of her and therefore do not need to cover the floor or use any backdrops.

Lighting: The lighting will be a mix of both natural and artificial as it will be against a white wall however I will bring my own artificial lights to improve the lighting.

Shot type: The shots I will be focusing on are mid shots from her waist/ knees upwards. The poses i would like her to do are presented in task 5 which are mostly her standing straight on facing the camera or stood on a slight angle.

Shoot Plan 1 : DPS spread

Subject: My model is female young adult model.

Shot type: The shots I will be focusing on are only close ups and maybe slightly merging into mid shots as i will be experimenting with what looks best. For example I will get the model to pose with her hand on her face looking relaxed and also looking over her shoulder.

Image from when model was younger.

The text on this DPS will consist of personal information about her life and things she struggled with.

Firstly I will start by introducing who she is and what she is known as and then how she accomplished that. For example I will talk about how she was body shamed and how she over came all the negativity and is now a very famous model. I will then go on to talk about the models life and her love for fashion and the fashion shows she takes place in.

I will include a sneak peek of how she is releasing her own fashion line and designs which she has always wanted to do.

As it is an interview, I will include questions that have been asked by people struggling with similar issues or from the interviewer them self  where she can give her advice and confidence.

This will set her as a role model to younger viewers or readers I general who are interested in fashion or modelling or any sort of mental health awareness as well as those who have struggle or still struggle with it now and can look up to her and relate.

Masthead

The masthead for the front cover Will be 'OPULENCE' which is the name of the magazine and therefore is what people will recognise it by. It is a word for being luxurious and having wealth however,  just because the definition means wealthy doesn't mean you need to have tons of money to buy the magazine,  it could reflect on the audience as wanting to be rich and aiming to have a life of luxury.

The masthead for my double page spread will be 'The Self Confidence Issue'

Colour schemes

The colour scheme for the front cover of my magazine that I am looking to use is a red background and the model wearing quite pale clothes or colour like black and white which will contrast well with the red background. I have chosen for the model to wear a white dress which will really stand out from the red and be easy to edit on Photoshop or cut out if I needed to change anything.  The model has very long dark hair and this again works with the other colours I am using as they are not very similar and therefore do not take away any attention from the other colours.

Slogan Ideas

'Be fashion confident'

'Don't be boring'

'Best of Bristol's Beauty hacks'

'Bristol's best fashion'

'Why dress boring when you can show your ....

Red carpet Insiders

My chosen brief was to produce a magazine cover and double page spread on the basis of Bristol fashion and what unique fashion exists within out city. I could have chosen to either portray this in a print form or a digital form of which is chose the most familiar to me which was a print format. Through my research of the different content within magazines and how they get consumers interested.

Shot List:

I will go on a shoot on the weekend and capture a range of different angles and shot types so that I have a bigger variety of options and when it comes to creating my actual final piece I have more options if my plan changes.

These are my final shots that I have selected from my shoot as I think they will work best with my magazine cover ideas and what I am trying to create. These photos work very as I have purposefully made her stand and pose how I would expect to see professional models position themselves. I experimented with both white and red backgrounds as these were my two decided background colours. In my opinion I think the red works best as it contrasts nicely with the white dress she is wearing. The red will also be an easy option in terms of editing as it will be more difficult to cut the model out of the background as they are both white.

This is going to be the image I use for my front cover as I think it will suit the portrait position of the page. There is also enough red background to allow enough space for any text such as slogans which I will position around her.

I'm going to use this image for my double page spread as this is a slightly closer and seems more personal which I can relate to the text on the other half of the page and refer to her facial expression and go deeper into the meaning of it.

Here I was planning what text I will include on both my Front cover and my Double page spread so that I could plan it out first and check any errors are corrected before I put it on my final piece.

On my DPS

It can be hard to promote your own  style within the modelling industry as  their is so much pressure on how we  act and dress as we are constantly   expected to live a perfect life. But I chose to live my own life not shaped  by society and how they think I should  dress. My name is Jasmin. I never  expected myself to end up in the modelling industry, In fact my passion was always fashion and making my  own bold outfits. I worked from home most of the time as we lived in a cottage far from town. I started to progress and start planning my next step.  It was only until I set up my own business .page where I would model my own outfits or make clothes for my friends  when I started getting more profile visits and buyers and then offers from agents. I decided to meet with one of them who thought I had potential which is when my modelling career took off. It was a tough industry to get into as the timing wasn't so great. My mum was quite ill then, so I was in and out of my hometown helping her. When she recovered she encouraged me to do what I've always wanted and head into the unknown.

On my Front Cover

Getting into fashion from a country environment was no easy task. In fact many of my friends said it was pointless and that I wouldn’t be successful. Although some would be put down by this, in my case, all it did was make me more desperate to prove them wrong. I found myself staying up till the mornings just to make sure I was satisfied with my work. Getting to where I am now was a high hill to climb, with its fair share of speed bumps.  Just as I started pursuing my passion these bumps seemed to get bigger but whenever I found myself feeling low or drained, I'd go to this lake down the road from me which me and my mum had discovered when I was a kid. It overlooks a nature reserve which is peaceful and full of different wildlife. Id suggest finding a place like this for yourself to have a sense of escapism and be able to
